I am Andreina Bordón, Owner, baker and cake decorator of Bordon Cakes! I am a Venezuelan girl, making her bakery dreams come true!

While we waited to come to Canada, my husband and I traced a business plan and everything, a very daunting task! when we landed, more than 17 years ago, life became busy and uncertain, and the bakery stayed in the back burner as a dream that maybe, if we were lucky, it will come true. Then the kids arrived and that was it! A difficult task became and impossible one.

However, coming from an Italian background and Venezuelan background, and moreover, from my mom’s beautiful hands, cooking and baking is as part of us as breathing, so I began to make cakes for friends and kids of friends, until my kids came along and the simple designs became more elaborate. My mom made our wedding cake, first communion, christening, every occasion is filled with her cooking and I wanted to do that for my kids and my friends too.

Food, but especially desserts, are the link between all of us, family. My mom’s cookbook is filled with my sisters’ favorite cake, my favorite dessert, my brother’s favorite meat, my dad’s favorite… well, dad likes absolutely everything! The entire book is his favorite!

And that is how I started, helping her in the kitchen, learning without knowing, observing and taking mental notes and enjoying being in the kitchen. I learned to cook from the heart and without cutting corners; natural and fresh ingredients are a must, and never compromise on flavor, even if you have to start over. Nothing would have been possible without the support and encouragement of my amazing husband, and little by little, Bordon Cakes was born.

So there you have it, that is my commitment to you, my products are from scratch, with real ingredients and with the best taste in mind!
